CORPS CADETS:
COURSE A
In Course A, the corps cadets will be covering the themes of Truth, Old Testament, New Testament, and Wisdom. While several of these themes are woven into all lessons throughout the five years of Corps Cadets, we will take a more direct approach in teaching on these concepts in this course.

The Truth lessons will help corps cadets learn to understand what truth is and is not. They will learn about the beginnings of The Salvation Army, be introduced to C. S. Lewis and the practical skill of creative writing, and consider what it means to "say what we mean and mean what we say."

The Old Testament lessons will give corps cadets an overview of God’s entire story, beginning with the creation account in the Old Testament and continuing on to modern day. Corps cadets will look at the life of Daniel, from the Old Testament, as an example of mature Christian character. They will also learn about ancient examples of leadership, such as Nehemiah, as well as more recent historical examples—John Wycliffe and William Tyndale—and their contribution to the Bible we have in our hands today. Finally, they will take a deep dive into the Ten Commandments, and learn about how they still apply today.

The New Testament lessons will provide a continued overview of God’s entire story as a continuation of the Old Testament and a fulfillment of prophecy. Corps cadets will look at what we believe regarding inspiration of Scripture, and learn basic inductive Bible study steps. They will also see how the Bible gives us perspective.

The Wisdom lessons give the corps cadets an overview of wisdom literature. They will learn about the heritage of Tom Crocker, ARCs, and Harbor Lights; look at the leadership example of Solomon and his God-given wisdom; and consider how fear of the Lord is the beginning of helping us make wise decisions in our daily lives.
