Spiritual Gifts lessons begin with differentiating spiritual gifts and spiritual fruit. They will be introduced to a list of spiritual gifts and discuss talents, learning about a few Salvationists who used their gifts and talents to make a difference in The Salvation Army and the world. Corps cadets will discover that we should not compare gifts before they take their own spiritual gifts inventory. And they will learn that spiritual gifts do not determine calling and vocation but do have an impact on the future.

Featured Speaker: Major Matthew Satterlee

Spiritual Disciplines lessons begin with an understanding of discipline, introducing the corps cadets to an overview of spiritual disciplines. They will learn about the Methodist background of The Salvation Army and focus on two outward disciplines: simplicity and solitude. Corps cadets will be introduced to Richard Foster and his book, Celebration of Discipline, discussing why we celebrate as they focus on two corporate disciplines: confession and celebration. Then they will learn about two specific inward disciplines: meditation and fasting.

Featured Speaker: Captain Vanessa Alvarez-Espinoza

Social Health lessons provide an overview of relationships—specifically those other than marriage. Corps cadets will learn that God’s design is that we are relational beings, intended for relationship. Sin brought brokenness, but God’s plan is restoration. Learning about Frederick Booth-Tucker and The Salvation Army’s work among the so-called criminal tribes in India as well as about the prophet Obadiah, they will learn about influence in relationships. Corps cadets will be introduced to the important relationship found in mentoring through learning about Ruth and Naomi as well as how to choose healthy relationships. And corps cadets will discuss friendships as they look at Paul, Barnabas, John Mark, Timothy, and Silas, also learning the important skill of active listening.

Featured Speaker: Bobilyn Carr

Integrity lessons begin with the importance of honesty, learning that hypocrisy is the opposite of integrity, and that we are called to walk in the light. Corps cadets will learn about the integrity of Joseph as well as Major Massilamony Annapackiam, discovering how one person’s integrity can impact an entire community or organization. They will learn from the examples of Billy Graham and Mr. Fred Rogers about how to live a life of integrity and recognize areas of inconsistency in their own lives. Finally, corps cadets will focus on work ethic as a part of a life of integrity, discussing how who your friends are can affect your work ethic and overall integrity.

Featured Speaker: Captain Xavier Montenegro
