Salvation lessons begin by explaining salvation as restoration, teaching about the atonement, ransom, and redemption. They will learn about regeneration and how The Salvation Army has used open-air meetings to bring people to a saving faith. They will learn about the mercy seat and how to participate effectively in mercy seat ministry. Finally, they will discover that no one is good enough to earn their own salvation; it’s a free gift of grace that we respond to by faith.

Featured Speaker: Scott Bedio

Wesleyan Theology begins by teaching corps cadets that understanding theology and doctrines helps us to have an informed faith. They will learn basic doctrinal terms and definitions. They will discover the history of our doctrines and our roots as part of the Wesleyan Holiness Movement. Corps cadets will also learn about Arminianism and how it compares to Calvinism. And they will consider how what we believe informs how we live.

Featured Speaker: Captain Allison Hinzman

Multiculturalism will cover the story of the Good Samaritan and how we continue to divide into “us and them.” Corps cadets will learn about the internationalism of The Salvation Army, seeing what unites us and how we are also diverse. From the example of Martin Luther King Jr, they will learn that we must practice what we teach and will discover the basics of teaching a Sunday school lesson. And corps cadets will learn about God’s plan for diversity, both now and throughout eternity.

Featured Speaker: Captains Jennifer and Emmanuel Masango

Creation Care will focus on God as the Creator and what we can learn from the creation account in Genesis. They will see the topic as a biblical mandate, not a political agenda, as they learn about The Salvation Army’s position statement and actions in caring for creation. Corps cadets will consider our rights, freedoms, and responsibilities as it pertains to creation care as Christians. And, drawing from the example of the widow giving her two coins, they will learn how small acts can make big life changes when God is involved.

Featured Speaker: Ed Covert
